College Graduate Heads to DC!!

I am off on vacation to visit my parents in Connecticut. We're going to see my daughter who has just moved to Washington, DC upon her graduation from college. I can't wait to see her new apartment and workplace. It will make it easier to visualize her life each day. We're taking my Dad to see the WWII Memorial and also Arlington. I always feel very patriotic every time I visit Washington.

Did a camel really walk across Australia?

At the beginning of the school year I take pictures of the PV staff with their favorite books. These images are sent to the AEA where they're made into READ posters. This has been really popular and most of the staff post their pictures in their classrooms. I had my husband take my photo last year when we were in Australia.

Is that a cherry on a spoon?

Had a wonderful visit to Minneapolis for shopping and sight-seeing! In the background is the famous outdoor sculpture "Spoonbridge and Cherry" by Claes Oldenburg the same artist who created the "Crusoe Umbrella" at
Nollen Plaza in Des Moines.

Happy 4th of July!

I hope everyone gets to have some fun with sparklers!
Boy, isn't digital photography the best! I am one of those crazy scrap-booking ladies who carries a camera everywhere and is intent on documenting my life and the lives of my family. The advances in digital imaging have made it sooooo easy to take and share photos. As I have posted before, our dear family friend, Jeff Wignall (he look the photo at the left and his photostream can be found at http://www.flickr.com/photos/17538542@N00/), is a professional photographer and writer and he has been encouraging me for a long time to get a Flickr account and now I have.

Is it a lighthouse?

I just received this photo from my sister. It's a lighthouse in East Haven, Connecticut and that's my sister (the children's librarian) on the bench. I love to visit lighthouses. Many are beautiful and are in breath-taking locations. I hope to visit this one in July.
